Gundari-myoo in Anrakuji Temple

Anrakuji Temple is located in Ome city Tokyo. The Buddhist statue of Gundari-myoo is enshrined in the temple. The statue is always closed, but, it is open only on August 14th. Thus, I went to Anrakuji Temple on that day.

The guardian gods was enshrined at the temple gate. The statue is very unique. I have not seen this type of the guardian gods even though I have seen many guardian gods statues.

At the hall, I saw the staue of Gundari-myo. I think that there are numerous variations among Buddhist statues. For example, Kannon is kind, gundari-myoo is angry.

Nara to-kae is held from August 5th to 14th. During to-kae, tens of thousands of candles are lit up around Nara Park. Kofukuji Temple and Todaiji Temple are also lit up. I visited Nara on August 8th to see to-kae.
